EvoEnergy was commissioned by the University of Cambridge to design and install a 4.64kWp solar panel system consisting of 16 bespoke 290Wp mono-crystalline modules, installed on four custom fabricated solar ‘tree’ frames. The system has a predicted yearly output of 3,868kWh/year, saving 2,197kg CO2/year. The project was the result of an open tender which EvoEnergy won due to their innovative and creative system design.

Covers Builders Merchants is set to install Azur Solar solutions across the UK after successfully completing trial projects at six of its branches in Southern England. The installations at the Covers Home Ideas store, the Covers Trade Centre at Chichester and the depots at Aldershot, Bognor, Gosport, and Portsmouth will now be used as reference sites.

According to Inside Housing, Durham County Council is, like many others, considering the installation of photovoltaic panels on 3,000 of its homes. The plans are aimed at reducing fuel poverty in the area while cutting residents carbon footprint and energy bills.

The focus of attention over the next few weeks will be on the feed-in tariffs review, particularly once the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) finally publishes the consultation paper.  The belief in the industry, of course, is that the rates for solar PV will be reduced. How much is anyone’s guess, but 25 % seems a popular stab at it.

Wagner Solar UK’s solar training school has won the SOLAR Industry Award 2011 in the Industry Development category. The award was presented to the UK-based academy in Hamburg this week, coinciding with the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC).
