The Merrill family from Somerset decided to replace their roof in May 2006. Instead of simply retiling with conventional building materials, they chose to power their home with Solarcentury's C21e solar electric roof tiles. These tiles integrate seamlessly with normal roof tiles.

Bob and Helen Hughes' home has been re-roofed with 36 C21e solar electric roof tiles from Solarcentury, reducing 1,554kWh per year, the 1.86kWp new roof provides over 50% of the homes' electrical needs, powering the ground source heat pump, and saving 883kg of C02 emissions each year.

I remember going to the Green Party conference a few years back. The first chap I met was called “Freedom”. We handed out flyers – but then everyone handed them back after reading, so that we could re-use them. All in all, it was an eye-opening experience.
