Building-integrated photovoltaics specialist Schueco UK has launched the SCC60 with ProSolar TF cladding system, which can be installed into the side of buildings and other structures. Designed specifically for use with ProSolar TF thin-film modules, the ventilated façade can provide weather protection, insulation and sustainable energy production.

Cornwall-based solar installer Renewable Energy Co-operative (R-ECO) has completed its first community project at Sterts Theatre, near Liskeard, North Cornwall. Cornwall Council provided funding via the Strategic Arts Clients’ Capital fund, and R-ECO provided match funding for the project.

Spanish PV equipment distributor Proinso has launched a solar training school. Aimed at the 1,406 companies within its network of Qualified Installers around the world, Proinso has formed the Proinso Solar Training School in partnership with experienced solar training centres in Italy, Greece and the UK.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne has confirmed that the DECC will go ahead with its fourth carbon budget, increasing the emissions target to 80% by 2050. The decision has been made in the wake of the Committee on Climate Change report revealed last week.

After months of unnecessary planning applications submitted for solar installations, Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister Huw Irranca-Davies has stepped up to ensure UK councils are not giving misleading advice to homeowners. After receiving advice from David Hunt, Director of Darlington-based Eco Environments, Irranca-Davies has pledged to write to his Government counterparts, urging them to take action.

British Gas Community Energy has acquired PH Jones Group, the provider of central heating services to the social housing market, for £30 million in cash. This deal marks a major step in the company’s strategy to build its social housing energy services business and help social housing providers across the UK to cut their residents’ energy use, carbon emissions and fuel bills.

Adding to the rising number of community energy projects in the UK, Nayland Primary School has unveiled its 15.54kW solar installation in Suffolk. Made possible by the Green Energy Nayland scheme, the school will now benefit from free electricity and bill savings for over 25 years.
