The Seniors, a family of four with two young children, wanted to reduce their reliance on external utilities and decided to do so by installing renewable energy sources. By installing solar photovoltaics and solar thermal systems, the Seniors were able to reduce their contribution to CO2 emissions.

Social housing body, the Peabody Trust, has allocated £23 million to spend on installing solar panels on its London-based housing. The move, which is one of the most generous schemes to be carried out by a social housing provider, is aimed at making Peabody a carbon neutral business by 2020.

Wirsol has completed its first UK solar project, installing a 29.6 kilowatt system at Sharnbrook School in Bedfordshire. The leading German solar provider, which has recently opened a UK-based office, completed the installation in just five working days.

Just before offices closed for the festive period, Cornwall Council gave the go-ahead to what will be one of Britain’s first large-scale solar farms. The 25-acre solar array, located on part of the Lanhydrock National Trust estate near Bodmin, is expected to power the nearby Restormel water treatment station…
