Solar energy company Eco Environments has become one of a handful in the UK to gain a full set of industry-leading accreditations. With offices located in Liverpool, Darlington, Manchester, Tamworth and Penrith the company has been awarded accreditation under the microgeneration certification scheme (MCS) for its solar PV, solar thermal, heat pump and wind divisions.

This building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) system was completed on behalf of Tony Dawkins, who was keen to involve renewable energy in the plans for his home. Mr. Dawkins decided on a 3.17kWp system consisting of 72 Redland Duoplain PV Tiles. By opting for a BIPV solution, he was able to fit the PV tiles fitting flush with the surrounding Duoplain concrete tiles in order to achieve an aesthetically pleasing roof which also satisfied planning requirements.

Adding to the mounting response to the recently announced feed-in tariff review, We Support Solar has launched a new campaign calling for the Government to raise its solar ambitions. The new initiative, ‘Save our solar’ highlights the importance of protecting the UK’s solar industry, with the aim of raising awareness of the limited support for solar power in Government.

The UK feed-in tariff (FiT) for solar installations has been adjusted to account for updated inflation figures. The new tariff will come into effect on April 1 and be valid until March 31, 2012.

Marking its entrance into the UK solar market, REC has been awarded accreditation under the microgeneration certification scheme (MCS) for its Peak Energy Series Module. The certificate was awarded by the UK’s Board of Agrément, which grants approval for construction products, systems and installers.

The annual ecobuild exhibition kicked off yesterday at ExCeL, London, featuring over 1,300 exhibitors in the fields of design, construction and the built environment. As the doors opened at 10:00am, floods of visitors from all over came to see what this year’s event had in store.
