Enecsys, the Cambridge-based micro-inverter company, has selected Wieland gesis RST 25i3/i5 connectors for connecting its solar inverters to the electricity grid system on the AC side of photovoltaic (PV) installations. The pre-wired, ‘plug and play’ Wieland connectors are factory tested and offer higher reliability and faster installation compared to onsite wiring.

The GeoInformation Group’s Solar Energy Mapping solution has recently been utilised by London-based Solar PV Engineering Procurement and Construction Contractor, M3 Solutions, in order to save time and effort in solar irradiance surveys. Delivered either as a detailed property report or database, the solar energy map identifies and measures building roof potential for solar panel installations.

UK-based renewable energy company, TwentyNinety has won a Shell Springboard award, for its photovoltaic technology Active Array, which is launching later this year.  The prize, which provides a financial boost to innovative, low carbon business ideas from across the UK, has been awarded in recognition of the potential of Active Array, to make a significant impact on the global PV business.

Cambridgeshire council has given the go-ahead for plans to build a 35 acre solar energy farm in the village of Wilburton, near Ely. The 5MW plant has been given approval, with construction expected to begin in the spring.

Tregony School in Truro has become the first school to receive a solar power system from British Gas as winner of the company’s MySolar School competition. The school, which is one of 750 UK schools to benefit from the £15 million giveaway, has won over £30,000 worth of Sharp solar panels, which are being installed this week.
