The Amersham & Wycombe College installed solar photovoltaics onto the roof of a building at its Chesham campus, since the college was offering installer-training courses, which would lead to the City & Guilds certificate 2372, "Installing & Testing Photovoltaic (PV) Systems". The College felt that lecturers and students would find it beneficial having a local system, which they could actually experience the benefits of.

The 6.63kWp array installed at St. Edmunds School, London by Ecofirst is now grid-tied and retrofitted onto a metal-pitched roof. The system was installed in order to off-set demand of air conditioning.

Julia Waterlow’s four-bedroom, early 19th century property, "Hollow House" in Lewes, East Sussex, features a 20m2 solar photovoltaic array, installed on her garage roof. The 2.43kWh system, which was installed by SolarUK in 2008, now produces 2410kWh a year, meaning her grid electricity bill only amounts to approximately £160 a year.
