The RSPB, the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and wildlife,has installed four PV systems at different locations across the UK, with two more installations planned. The charity has also launched its own ‘Going Solar’ scheme with Solarcentury, to help members to invest in renewable energy themselves.

The Servite Priory is a registered charity and community house, where people can find refuge and retreat. The house is run by six paid staff and 24 volunteers. Built in the 1880s, the house offers accommodation for 100 people, and is set in a 100-acre estate. Manager Noilin Mullin joined the Servite Priory thirteen years ago and has a vision of turning the Priory into an Energy Valley.

The Merrill family from Somerset decided to replace their roof in May 2006. Instead of simply retiling with conventional building materials, they chose to power their home with Solarcentury's C21e solar electric roof tiles. These tiles integrate seamlessly with normal roof tiles.

Bob and Helen Hughes' home has been re-roofed with 36 C21e solar electric roof tiles from Solarcentury, reducing 1,554kWh per year, the 1.86kWp new roof provides over 50% of the homes' electrical needs, powering the ground source heat pump, and saving 883kg of C02 emissions each year.
