With just over four weeks to go, the countdown has begun to the largest gathering of solar professionals the UK has ever seen. From October 26-28, the ICC Birmingham will open its doors to a representative of every sector in the solar industry.

Three thousand houses in Wrexham are to be fitted with solar panels thanks to a new multi-million pound scheme from the county council. The panels form part of the council’s wider carbon reduction strategy and could reduce energy bills by up to £200 per household.

A Barnsley charity is to establish a 22.5kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system on its roof top with the help of a local installer this September.

The free tool is expected to enable solar projects in the UK that had previously been discounted due to shading issues or because rooftops are not south-facing. The tool is also aimed at increasing awareness of best practice in solar installations.
